Batty Cave
Batty Cave is a remote site the Utah desert where two men built an ark. According to local oral history the men, who I call Spooky and Peek-a-boo after nearby slot canyons, lived at Batty Cave in the 1950’s. Convinced that the Glen Canyon Dam would cause a flood of Biblical proportions, they built an ark at their mining camp, 50 miles beyond the proposed reservoir site, and waited. The logic of their motives is questionable; I suggest that they were planning for a romantic, Utopian future in which they would be alone together, the last men on earth.

An early version of the video was included in the group show The Line of Time and the Plane of Now at Harris Lieberman, organized by artists Jacob Dyrenforth, Halsey Rodman, and Ohad Meromi.
