700 is the approximate square footage of LeRoy Neiman Gallery. In this
exhibition, 700 is a number for potential values, an arbitrary point
of departure. The artists in this show present projects surrounding
this structural premise: the model number of a specific tool for
documenting an intimate journey, the identification of a religious
political force, multiple references to a global mythology, a
near-impossible target population of participants, including
passersby, migrating birds, friends, families, and strangers, or a
specific group of workers in a foreign country. The materials each
artist presents provide diverse insights into their motivation and
practice. Together they explore the space between individual process
and public presentation.
